Grades: 3-5 
 
In this introductory chess class we will learn the rules and basic strategies of chess. Lessons will include 15-20 minutes of group instruction followed by supervised chess games, with an instructor answering questions, giving suggestions, and highlighting teachable moments in the games. The best way to learn is to play! By the end of the course, students should be able to play and enjoy a game of chess, from the opening move to "checkmate!”.
